The reputable manufacturer, Diamondback, has perfected the art of building bikes that deliver the speed of a road bike while possessing off-road potential.
In other words, these road bikes will meet the needs of cyclists who want to do more just cruise around the city.
In this diamondback hanjoo review post, we’ll be looking at 3 of the most popular road bikes from Diamondback Haanjo line: the 2015 Haanjo Alternative Road Bike, Haanjo Comp Alternative Road Bike, and Trail Carbon Alternative Road Bike.
Diamondback Bicycles 2015 Haanjo Alternative Road Bike
- 6061-T6 aluminum alloy frame with endurance geometry for worry free durability and all day riding comfort
- Road disc alloy fork provides steering precision
Some riders have labeled this bike as the REAL gravel grinder, but Diamond simply call it alternative bike. This bike is partially a road bike and partly a mountain bike designed to let you choose where you want to ride it on—whether it’s on the city streets or on the rough paths that standard bikes can’t handle.
The bike features a more relaxed (endurance geometrical) frame compared to the traditional design found in most of its competition. This is sure to give you a more comfortable position when riding and easy going handling. Since this frame is made from aluminum it’s sure to provide the bike with the durability it deserves while keeping it lightweight.
If you combine the truly unique frame design with the disc brakes, flat handlebars, and big grippy tires, you’ll have total control over your bike, regardless of the conditions or surface you’re riding in.
With the Shimano 9-speed cassette plus double front chain rings, this bikes gives you a versatile range of gear (18 in total) to choose from. This makes tackling any route with the 2015 Haanjo Alternative Road Bike even easier.
Above all, this bike comes in a wide range of sizes to ensure that riders of different sizes will find a height that perfectly fits them. Remember the correct bike size enables you to assume a good posture for comfortable pedaling.
Diamondback Bicycles Haanjo Comp Alternative Road Bike
- Aluminum alloy frame with endurance geometry for worry free durability and all day riding comfort
- DB gravel disc fork, 1.5 inch taper alloy steerer
Priced a bit higher than the2015 Haanjo Alternative Road Bike, this Haanjo Comp Alternative Road Bike is also designed to let you ride anywhere you wish to, without getting limited to pavements. It comes perfectly equipped to hit any route you choose—whether it’s gravel, paved, or dirt.
Like the previous bike, this road bike also features the unique endurance geometrical to ensure you remain comfortable on the saddle all day long. The fact that the frame is also made using aluminum makes it not only durable but also lightweight. The bike’s fully butted & formed tubing design achieves a good balance between durability and lightweight.
The carbon leg fork actively absorbs all the rough terrains chatter to give you a more comfortable riding experience.
The drive train for this bike is unlike what we’ve seen in our previous diamondback hanjoo review. That is, it comes equipped with SRAM Apex 1 drive train. 1x11 speeds which promote lightweight, simplicity, and efficiency.
Something also worth a mention is the HED Tomcat Disc wheel set of this Comp alternative road bike. This wheel set comes with 15mm front and 142 x 12mm rear thru-axles to promote additional stiffness and precise handling on all surfaces.
Because the bike comes partially assembled, you don’t have to worry about setting it up from scratch. The setup duration might vary from 30-120 minutes depending on your experience.
Diamondback Bicycles Haanjo Trail Carbon Alternative Road Bike
- Handmade Carbon alternative road frame has endurance geometry for comfort and a 142x12mm rear through axle for a more responsive ride
- DB Gravel Carbon disc fork with a 1.5 inch taper alloy steered sporting a 12mm thru axle and fender/low rider mounts
This is the high priced road bike of the three models we’ve featured on this list. This can be attributed to the fact that this bike has been designed using carbon, unlike the previous models which use aluminum.
The handmade carbon frame of this bike also features the unique endurance geometry design which translates to comfortable riding experience. If you combine this frame with the 142 x 12mm rear through axle, you’re sure to enjoy a more responsive ride. The bike also features a DB Gravel carbon disc fork.
Another thing that sets this bike apart from the previous models above is the Shimano 2 x 11 speed drive train it comes with. This provides you with a total of 22 gears to pick from…and that gives you an edge over any terrain.
Thanks to the flat mount hydraulic disc brakes, this bike assures you of predictable stopping power in all weather conditions and on all terrains. This is pretty much the same superior braking system we’ve seen in the other Diamondback Hanjoo road bikes.
Other features that made up this bike include the HED 700C Tomcat disc wheels which keep you rolling along, DB eldorado seat, KMC X11L chain, and Shimano ST-RS685 brake levers.
